The importance of hospital dietary/ food service department is not only to give clean, safe, therapeutic and timely supply of food but also demonstrate to the patient’s value of balanced diet. At Antillean Adventist hospital food service is combination of two aspects that is nutrition and dietetics. The daily function of the food service department is to prepare meals and snacks for the patients that are admitted to the hospital. These meals are prepared by strict guidelines of the physicians passed down by the registered dietitians. At AAH the food service department also prepare meals for the staff and clients on a daily basis, through the service offered in our cafeteria. Food service is one of the most important activities in any hospital as it is a most potent psychological force in patient satisfaction, patient acceptance of hospital regime resulting in fast recovery.
